NORTH CANTON
Kettle robbery
NORTH CANTON: A Salvation Army attendant working at a Kmart in North Canton at 1447 N. Main St. told police that he was robbed of a donation kettle Saturday evening.
The attendant told police that four men — including one with a knife — approached him about 7:10 p.m., and the man with the knife demanded the kettle.
After one of the men took the kettle, the men ran toward a nearby fast food restaurant.

CUYAHOGA VALLEY
Winter hours set
Winter hours for visitor centers in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park will begin Dec. 1.
The Boston Store Visitor Center in Boston Township will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
The Canal Visitor Center in Valley View will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekends.
The Hunt Farm Visitor Information Center in Cuyahoga Falls will be closed.
The Peninsula Depot Visitors Center will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekends from Dec. 3-11 and Jan. 7 to Feb. 26. It will be closed Dec. 12 through Jan. 6.
The winter hours will be in effect through February.
AKRON
Zoo activities
AKRON: Special activities will greet the zoo’s winter guests on Saturdays from December through February.
The program Animal Tales will run at 1 p.m. Dec. 3, 10, 17 and 31. A member of the zoo’s education department will read an interactive animal story with a live animal encounter and free popcorn.
Cabin Fever Reliever will be back from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on January 7, 14, 21 and 28. Free hot chocolate and a craft will be available and will include a story in the zoo’s Gift Shop at 1:30 p.m.
The zoo will also be hosting Creature Features on February 4, 11, 18 and 25. Each day a different animal group will be featured, and visitors will be able to meet an animal up close and personal.
Winter hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and admission is $6 per person. Children under 2 are free, and parking is $2.
The Akron Zoo is located at 500 Edgewood Avenue.

MEDINA COUNTY
Feast plans
MEDINA: The Medina County Historical Society is sponsoring its annual Victorian Feast Dinner Raffle. The winner will enjoy a dinner on Dec. 3 for six people in the center parlor of the John Smart House Museum at 206 N. Elmwood St.
The evening includes hors d’oeuvres, a gourmet dinner and a private tour of the museum.
Tickets are $2 or six for $10. Proceeds will benefit the historical society.

GREEN
Holiday celebration
GREEN: The city’s holiday season officially will come alive Saturday, Dec. 3, as the city hosts the fourth annual Christmas at Town Park celebration in conjunction with the Dane Foundation’s annual Kandy Kane Express Holiday Festival.
From 2 to 7 p.m., the Central Administration Building at 1755 Town Park Blvd. will feature visits with Santa, holiday craft-making, cookie decorating and rides on the Kandy Kane Express plus other fun and frivolity, including the lighting of the city’s Christmas displays and fireworks.
A donation of a toiletry/personal care item such as shampoo, soap, toilet paper, etc., per family is suggested for admission.
All activities with the exception of visiting with Santa require one to three tickets each, which may be purchased for $1 each at the door. All proceeds benefit the Dane Foundation.
Santa will visit with children in the City Council Chambers from 2 to 4:45 p.m. and from 6 to 7 p.m.
Mini-Christmas trees will be on display and available to bid on via a silent auction throughout the evening.
At 5 p.m., the Green High School Ensemble will present holiday music, followed by Santa and Mayor Dick Norton lighting the decorations before the fireworks.
Complimentary cookies and hot chocolate will be served between 5 and 6 p.m.
